Greenhouse Grants in Greece: Funding for New and Upgraded Greenhouses
Planning a new facility, an extension, or the modernisation of an existing greenhouse and considering funding options? Greenteque provides the technical design and delivery of greenhouse investments that may qualify for grant schemes and development finance instruments, working with clients in Greece and internationally
No completed design needed: your location, crop and investment stage are enough to start.
Greenhouse Projects with Funding Potential
Every funding programme has its own terms, eligible costs, and requirements. Investment planning should therefore start with the project’s needs, rather than the programme.
Greenteque assesses the facility’s needs and develops the appropriate technical solution, taking into account the crop, location, production capacity, level of technology, and available budget.
The aim is to develop a comprehensive investment plan with a sound technical basis that can be evaluated under a suitable funding instrument.
Examples of Funding Programmes in Greece
Funding options change over time and depend on the project location, type of investment, and investor’s profile.
Examples of funding routes for greenhouse investments include:
P3-73-2.9: Investments in Greenhouse Modernisation and Construction
P3-73-2.9 was a dedicated funding measure for greenhouse construction, extension, and modernisation, under Greece’s CAP Strategic Plan 2023-2027.
| Investment size | €30,000 to €1,000,000 per project (first call) |
| Grant rate | 50% to 60% of eligible costs, rising to 65% or 70% for young farmers, small Aegean islands and other priority areas |
| First call budget | €150 million in public funding |
| First call status | Closed on 9 December 2025, applications under evaluation |
| Next call | Not yet announced |
The first call for applications has closed, but the measure illustrates the type of greenhouse investment that may be supported through targeted programmes, with technical guidance and support from Greenteque.
Development Law 4887: Primary Production and Agricultural Product Processing, Fisheries, and Aquaculture
Greece’s Development Law includes aid schemes for investments in primary agricultural production and the processing of agricultural products.
Grants for greenhouse investments may cover up to 60% of the total cost.
Just Development Transition (DAM) Initiatives
Areas covered by Greece’s Just Development Transition programme have access to dedicated funding instruments to support new and existing businesses, as well as economic restructuring in regions affected by the energy transition.
Greenhouse investments have already been approved as DAM projects, creating significant opportunities for modern greenhouse facilities, hydroponic cultivation, and investments that combine production with energy efficiency.
From Funding Programme to Project Delivery
Greenteque considers grant funding as an integral part of the technical project. For each investment:
- We record the project requirements: crop, location, area, production targets, and the investment's current stage.
- We develop the technical solution: greenhouse structure, climate control, irrigation and fertigation, automation, hydroponics, energy systems, and any other equipment required.
- We assess funding options: the technical scope is evaluated against the available programmes and their eligibility criteria.
- We move into implementation: design, engineering, procurement, construction, and installation, depending on the agreed scope of work.
Where required, Greenteque works with specialist advisers on the funding and related advisory needs of the investment.
Greenhouse Grant FAQs
Can a greenhouse investment qualify for a grant?
Yes. Different funding instruments can support greenhouse investments. Eligibility depends on the programme, investment type, applicant, project location, and applicable terms.
Which funding programmes can I use?
There is no single programme for all greenhouse investments. Depending on the project, options may include agricultural programmes, Development Law aid schemes, or Just Development Transition initiatives.
Is P3-73-2.9 still open for applications?
The first call under P3-73-2.9 has closed. However, an investment may be considered under other existing or future funding instruments.
Can Greenteque handle the grant process?
Greenteque provides the technical design and delivery of the greenhouse investment. For funding and advisory matters, we work with a suitable adviser where required.
Can I start planning before choosing a funding programme?
Yes. Technical planning can start with the actual needs of your investment. We then assess which available funding instrument best suits the project.
What if there is no suitable programme available at the moment?
You can plan the investment and develop its technical design so it is ready for assessment when a suitable call opens. Terms and eligibility must be checked against the call applicable at that time.
What do you need for an initial discussion?
The basic details are enough: project location, crop, area, project type, estimated investment size, and the current stage of the project.
